How It Works

Detect

Scan the filament stack for colors that repeat. Each duplicate is a potential Color Drop opportunity.

Split

Cut the raised feature from the base at the matching-color boundary, leaving a cavity.

Drop

The feature drops into the cavity — matching Black layers align, collapsing the stack and reducing total height.

Print

Export separate STLs, print each, then stack together. Same image, less height!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does This Mean I Can Use Multiple Colors Per Layer in HueForge?

No. This is a post process to a HueForge model, not a new way to make HueForge models.

That being said, multiple levels of the same color are really helpful for this method and pits and issues caused by them are often fixed when Color Drop is run.

Why Do Color Drop Prints Take Less Time?

Because filament switching time is short compared to layer printing time. So adding a few more swaps, but reducing the number of layers printed, reduces print time at the cost of a modest increase in waste.

A standard Color Pop might go from 4 swaps to 7-10 swaps.

How Much is Color Drop?

Color Drop has a list price of $20 but an introductory price of $15 for April and May of 2026

This is a one time fee and will not be repeated. All updates are included in this price with no expiration date.

It is possible that a future version may not be compatible with an older version of HueForge, but you will never lose access to the newest version of Color Drop.
