Stop Rebuilding Projects by Hand
The old way: open the project in the slicer it was made for, export the parts, load them into your own slicer, assign every filament again, redo the color changes, and hope the settings match. Then do it all again for your other printer.
What 3MF Translator Does
Native Projects, Not Just Meshes
3MF Translator rewrites the slicer's own project files, not just the geometry. Plates, objects and parts, filament assignments and colors, color changes, height range modifiers and your print settings come across in the target slicer's own format, set up with your printer's own presets in that slicer. Slicers don't all share the same settings: when one has no match in the target, the target's preset keeps its value, and the app lists what it changed after every run.
One Project, Every Printer You Own
Save each printer once as a target: the slicer, the printer, the nozzle and the filament slots. Group targets in tabs such as Shop and Farm. One click on Translate makes a ready project for every target in the tab, several at once.
Fit Any Project to Your Filament Slots
An eight-color project and a four-slot AMS? In Filaments, drag the spools into your printer's slots to reorder, merge or recolor them, and drop the filaments the project never uses. Color changes follow your new slots. Printer Slots starts at what your printer holds: an AMS or CFS, one per toolhead on a tool changer, or a single spool.
Pick Your Plates, Check the Fit
Translate every plate or only the ones you choose. Each target warns you when a plate won't fit its printer's bed, and Rotate 90° turns the plates a quarter turn when that makes them fit.
See It Before You Translate
The Plates view shows every plate in 3D, in its filament colors with the color changes, so you can check the project before you translate it.
Opens Right in Your Slicer
Turn on Open After and each finished project opens in the slicer you translated it for, not whichever app your computer links to .3mf files.
Twelve Slicers, Both Ways
Translate from any of these slicers to any other. Each target gets the format it expects, written the way that slicer writes its own projects.

Three Platforms
The same app on Windows, macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Linux. On Linux it finds the Flatpaks of Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer, Snapmaker Orca, Creality Print and UltiMaker Cura, and any slicer's AppImage you point it to.

Your Files Stay on Your Computer
3MF Translator runs on your computer and never uploads your projects. Your original file is never changed: every translation is saved as a new file. The only thing it sends is a check for updates and news when it starts, with the app's version and your operating system, and you can turn that off in Preferences.
What Changes Day-to-Day
| Task | Without 3MF Translator | With 3MF Translator |
|---|---|---|
| Print a MakerWorld project made for a Bambu Lab printer on your Prusa | Export the parts, rebuild the project in PrusaSlicer, assign filaments, redo the color changes | Open it, pick your Prusa, Translate |
| Fit eight colors on a four-slot AMS | Re-map filaments in the slicer and fix the color changes by hand | Merge spools in Filaments; the color changes follow |
| Print on several printers | Repeat the whole setup in each slicer | One Translate makes a project for every target in the tab |
| Printer and filament presets | Loaded as "customized" presets that are not your slicer's own | Your printer's own presets in the target slicer |
| Color changes and height range modifiers | Re-enter them layer by layer | Carried over |
| Check the bed fit | Find out in the slicer | A warning before you translate, and Rotate 90° when turning fixes it |

Buy NowFrequently Asked Questions
Which slicers are supported?
Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, Snapmaker Orca, Creality Print, Anycubic Slicer Next, Elegoo Slicer, Flash Studio Desktop (Flashforge), QIDI Studio, PrusaSlicer, QIDISlicer, SuperSlicer and UltiMaker Cura, in both directions: a project saved by any of them translates to any other. It also opens projects from the PrusaSlicer 3.0 alpha.
Do I need the slicers installed?
You need the slicers you translate to, on the same computer. 3MF Translator takes the printer and filament presets from that slicer's own install, so the project opens with presets your slicer knows. The slicer the project came from doesn't need to be installed.
Will it work with any 3MF file?
It needs a project saved by one of the twelve slicers, which holds that slicer's settings. A 3MF with only the model in it, such as an export from a modeling program, has no slicer settings to translate.
Does it change my original file?
No. Every translation is saved as a new file, and the original stays as it was.
What doesn't carry over?
Slicers don't all have the same settings. When a setting has no match in the target slicer, the target's preset keeps its own value, and the app lists what it changed or left out after each run. Translating to UltiMaker Cura uses Cura's stock materials, so filament colors don't carry over to Cura.
Does it slice or print?
No. It writes the project file your slicer opens. You slice and print from your slicer as usual.
What if the project has more colors than my printer has slots?
In Filaments you choose which of the project's filaments share a slot, recolor them, and drop the ones the project never uses. Until you do, the target warns you which filaments have no slot.
Does it work with tool changers?
Yes. Printer Slots follows the printer: one per toolhead on a tool changer such as the Snapmaker U1 or the Prusa XL, the AMS or CFS slots on Bambu Lab and Creality printers, or a single spool.
Does it send my files anywhere?
No. Your projects and files never leave your computer. The only thing the app sends is a check for updates and news when it starts: the app's version and your operating system, nothing else. You can turn each check off under Preferences, and section 8 of the license agreement has the details.
How do I get updates?
When a new version is out, a bar at the top of the app tells you, with a link to download it. Help > Check for Updates… checks at any time. Downloads are in your account on this store.
How long do I get updates?
Your purchase includes every update released for one year from the date you buy. After that, the version you have keeps working for as long as you like: the license doesn't expire. To get newer versions, renew at a discount in this store, at any time. A renewal adds another year of updates, starting when your current year ends, or on the day you renew if it has already ended.
How do I install it?
Windows: run the installer, which is signed by Additive Atom LLC. macOS: open the disk image and drag 3MF Translator to Applications; it is signed by Additive Atom LLC and notarized by Apple. Linux: download the AppImage, make it executable and run it. It runs on Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, or another distribution from 2022 on, and needs FUSE 2 (libfuse2 on Ubuntu). On macOS and Linux the license agreement appears the first time you open the app.
