MacOS Troubleshooting
Install, permissions, crashes, and macOS-specific HueForge fixes.
How do I install / update HueForge on macOS?
- Download the Mac build from your order Download Files page / account portal
- Unzip and move HueForge into Applications
- Launch and accept permission dialogs when asked
Requires macOS 12+ (Intel and Apple Silicon).
To update: replace the app in Applications. Back up customized filaments before first launch of a new build if you're unsure.
Where are my settings, filaments, and logs?
Data lives in the app sandbox. ~/Documents/HueForge is a built-in link into that data (not a second copy).
| What | Typical path |
|---|---|
| Data link | ~/Documents/HueForge |
| Logs | ~/Documents/HueForge/Logs |
A custom configuration directory overrides this if you set one.
Permissions / can't save
Permissions can be granted for folders everywhere now (Documents-only is obsolete).
- Allow prompts when they appear
- If it keeps refusing and isn't prompting: Preferences → Reset, then Add the folders you need
Older note: some macOS 15.1 / 14.7.1 / 13.7.1 builds had a system bug where permission prompts always failed — fixed in 15.2 / 14.7.3 / 13.7.3. Update macOS if you're on those broken point releases.
Crashed — what should I send?
Include HueForge version + macOS version, a short repro, File → Export Log File if the app opens, plus crash files from ~/Documents/HueForge/Logs.

SpotFix — blank 3D view after exiting
Set File → Settings → Model → Render Backend → Vulkan, click Save and Apply, then restart HueForge when prompted. Use sparingly; persistence issues with many SpotFixes; 0.9.4.2 should help. Cannot be used with HugeForge currently.
How do I install a plugin on macOS?
Drag and drop the plugin zip onto HueForge. Clear Plugins under your configuration directory if reinstalling.
